Will Sims 2 work better if I get a new laptop?

Well my laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and Sims 2 is always glitching on it like all the terrain will become a certain texture on a piece of furniture I have or a hairstyle that my sim has. Anyway, I installed all the patches from the Sims 2 Website but it still has these problems, I changed the compatibility settings and yet it still has these problems, it sometimes crashes aswell. I thought, maybe it's my laptop that just isn't very good, and I really want to get a new one that's really fast and has a good graphics card so Sims 2 will run really well and look nice on. But then I realised that it might not be because my laptop is fast or old (which it turns out my laptop isn't either of those things) it could be because my laptop has windows 7 and Sims 2 isn't compatible with it, so if I got a really nice up to date laptop, it might just make my problems worse. Would that be the case? Or would it run well? Or is their any chance I can get an up to date laptop that is fast and has a good graphics card that has Windows Vista (which is compatible with Sims 2)?
