How many followers did mohammad have in mecca?

i do not make anything up. i look it up and from my research i have found that after twelve years of preaching mohammad had 72 followers in mecca however some scholars say it could have been as high as 100. so who knows where i can find the exact number of followers mohammad had after 12 years of preaching islam in mecca?
